4-Aminopyridine (4-AP) is also known as aminopyridine, fampridine, dalfampridine and Fampyra.
A commercially available tablet is available under the trade name of Fampyra. Each tablet of FAMPYRA contains 10 mg of 4-amino pyridine in addition to hypromellose, microcrystalline cellulose, silicon dioxide, magnesium stearate and the film coat (Opadry White Y-1-7000 E171) contains hypromellose, titanium dioxide and macrogol 400.
For those patients who may have an allergy or intollerance to any of these ingredients or who prefer to take capsules instead of a tablet our laboratory compounds it in a modified release capsule which has proven to be very effective. It contains microcrystalline cellulose, Methocel E4M and a gelatin capsule.
